Medical Director & Owner
Owning his own practice and helping the community has been a dream of Dr Rairi since arriving in New Zealand, almost 20 years ago. In May of 2016, this dream came to fruition and MaxCare Medical Centre opened its doors in Central Otahuhu. Doing better and finding innovative ways to care for our community is what drives Dr Rairi’s passion for affordable healthcare. Trust and relationships are key.
“The health industry is evolving every day, and we as medical professionals need to ensure we are kept up to date with the latest processes, procedures and technology. But more importantly, it is to listen to our community and tailor our services to serve their needs. We also want to ensure that we are providing affordable health care to the people. Serving our community is what MaxCare is about and ensuring that each person who comes through those doors is provided with the best health care and service with a smile
Dr Poanere Tapukura Rairi
Cook Islander
General Practitioner
Dr Musuku has been with the Maxcare Team for a year now and is enjoying the different ethnicities that make up this practice. Working with Dr Rairi and his team has been an interesting journey, and one in which I have had to gain the trust of the patients to be able to treat them.
Because they have been with Dr Rairi since Maxcare opened, gaining the trust and respect from the patients has been slow process. But rest assured, Dr Rairi and I do consult on our patients and always look at the best interest of all our patients.
Also, having Dr Musuku at Maxcare Medical Centre, is beneficial for all our female patients, so please, feel free to come and see Dr Musuku on your next visit.

Registered Nurses & Health Care Assistants
Nurse Lead
Danielle Samani
Cook Islander
Dani joined the team in February 2022, armed with a double degree - a Bachelor of Health Science & Bachelor of Nursing. Dani has worked in Urgent Care for a few years & brings a great attitude and positive vibes to team MaxCare.
Coming into a smaller primary care practice like MaxCare, is so different from Urgent Care. Nurses need to do everything to support the GP's. This makes you become an all-rounder practice nurse which has allowed me to expand my knowledge in the day-to-day operations of a minor primary care clinic.” Dani hopes to pass as much knowledge to the nursing team here at MaxCare and to ensure that our patients are well taken care of.
Nurse Prescriber
Saia Penitani
Tongan
Saia began his journey with MaxCare Medical Centre as a casual nurse and joined the team full- time in December 2021. Saia enjoys the diverse patient ethnicities and says no two days are alike here at MaxCare Medical Centre. This is a bonus for me if I can make a difference with our patients.
Saia also specialises in Mental Health – something that is not commonly spoken about amongst our Pasifika patients but something that more people is aware of since the Covid-19 lockdowns. Mental Health affects everyone. We must check in on our family and friends from time to time to ensure they are ok. Checking in with people can make all the difference.
Registered Nurse
Moka Haletama
Niuean
Helping our Pasifika patients means a lot to Moka. Hailing from Niue, Moka has seen what it is like to work in the Pacific with minimal resources and making do with what you have on the ground. Moka joined the MaxCare team in 2019 with a wealth of experience to support our patient base.
Seeing the wide range of ethnicities here at MaxCare, makes me determined to do better. NCD's is huge in the Pacific, and we need to educate our people to be aware. I am grateful to the MaxCare team for the professional development opportunities to further my skills for the people.

A people-centered approach is what Clemency believes in rather than following routine guidelines. "Everyone is different so how we deliver our message to the patients is important.
